Rally Bulgaria
Round 6, Bulgaria
Rally Bulgaria is the biggest, the most challenging and at the same time the most prestigious competition in the whole Bulgarian motorsport calendar. So, it a real honour that our event is a part of the FIA European Rally Championship so many years up to now.
Rally Bulgaria will mark its 43rd edition in 2012 and will be a classic tarmac event again. Usually the rally takes place in the first part of July but in 2012 it will be held a month earlier – between 8th and 10th June. However, the Rally HQ is going to be at the same place as the last ten years – the famous Bulgarian ski resort Borovets.
Actually, Rally Bulgaria has got a long and impressive history. The first event was held in 1970. During the period 1970-2001 the rally took a different place than Borovets. The HQ and special stages as well were based in other famous Bulgarian resorts – Zlatni Piasatsi (Golden Sands) and Albena on the Black Sea.

The 2010 Rally Bulgaria was a round of the FIA World Rally Championship. The winners were a Citroen driver Sebastien Loeb and his co-driver Daniel Elena. Their teammates Dani Sordo and Mark Marti occupied the second position and third finished Peter Solberg and Chris Patterson.
In 2011 Rally Bulgaria was a part of the FIA European Rally Championship’s calendar again. There was a really tough competition between Italian Luca Rossetti and Bulgarian Petar Gyoshev. During the final stages Rossetti managed to overtake Gyoshev and clinched the overall win. Another Italian – Luca Betti finished in third position.
We hope to have another great fight between the strongest European drivers in 2012. So, welcome in Bulgaria and enjoy the beauty and adventure of the rally sport!
