Polish success in ERC since 2002!
Michał Sołowow and Maciek Baran completed 43rd Rallye d’Antibes Côte d’Azur on third place overall. The Polish duo won Vice-champions title in European Rally Championship. It is a magnificent success for the Polish crew in last six years. In 2002 Janusz Kulig and Jaroslaw Baran also finished second in ERC. Italian Luca Rossetti who won the Championship overcame the Cersanit Rally Team with only two points.
The level of competition was remarkably high in ERC this year. We had opportunity to start in many fantastic events with various stages difficulty and compete with excellent drivers. It was really killing pace sometimes! At some events some new stage records have been made. Some colleges did better times than WRC drives a few years ago. We improved our stage times and ran faster at least one, two seconds per kilometer in comparison to our results last year. The domination of Super S2000 cars was a fact this year. Of course there were some exceptions: Paolo Andreucci in Mitsubishi, Pierro Longhi in Subaru showed brilliant performance in N-group cars on tarmac, and the N-group car won the Rally of Poland on gravel. But obviously S2000 vehicles become the future of rally sport. I have not been thinking about our plans for next season so far. I have concentrated myself only on good performance in Antibes. I’m really glad we did so well. It’s a brilliant result and I would like to thank all the people who worked so hard to bring us to podium in European Rally Championship – Michal Solowow said.
I love the moments like this! We are at the finish, we did our best and won second place in ERC. I will have this rally on my mind for long. Of course we had to face also bad moments this year. We didn’t finish a few rallies and lost some crucial points for the sake of our competitors. But it was not our fault – we suffered technical breakdowns. It happens. The second part of the season was much better as regards the preparation of the car and our performance. I’m really happy to be Vice-champion of ERC. We made this success after a very long and hard year, due to the work of the whole team so the champagne at the podium tasted much, much better than ever before - Maciek Baran added.
